Fillers

One of the earliest signs of aging is a loss of facial fullness and the development of expression lines or soft wrinkles that appear as a result of a repeated facial muscle movement. Softening of these facial lines and the restoration of volume and fullness in the face can be achieved non-surgically with injectable fillers. Injectable fillers can also plump thin lips, enhance shallow contours, soften facial wrinkles and, in some cases, improve the appearance of recessed scars.

The procedure is performed at the doctor's office and lasts only a few minutes. The doctor performs a number of intradermal injections to smooth wrinkles or imperfections following the application of local anaesthetic cream on the areas to be treated. The same procedure is done to fill up the lips or the facial contour. Maybe more than one session will be needed to achieve the desired result and it has to be repeated when it is absorbed by the body which is in a period of 6 months to a year, depending on the product used, the type of skin, the area treated, the amount injected and the injection technique.
Following injection, any markings will be cleansed and icing may be offered to alleviate any temporary discomfort. An improved appearance is visible almost immediately, although minor swelling or bruising may appear at the injection site. Any of these conditions will disappear within a few hours, or a few days at the most. The patient is usually able to resume normal professional and every day life activities following any of the injectable treatments.

Isolagen
Isolagen is an injectable product that has become very popular over the last few years. The technique is based on replacing and increasing the patient's own fibroplasts, those cells responsible for the collagen formation and skin rejuvenation. Its results are gradual and longer lasting than the fillers and the use of this technique minimises possible allergic reactions from injectable materials. Isolagen is also used to treat scars and indentations, including acne scars.
